About Karim- Head Trainer

Karim Camara is the Head Trainer of Einstein K9 Dog Training. Since its inception, EinsteinK9 has been dedicated to transforming the relationships of dog owners with their pets through effective, humane, and compassionate training techniques. Every dog, regardless of their breed, size, or age, starting from 8 weeks old, has the potential to learn and thrive within their human family.

Karim is a certified professional dog trainer who has worked with dogs for decades- since I was 12 years old. He is a distinguished member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).

Karim is a former elected official (he served for 10 years in the New York State Assembly). He is a digital marketing company’s CEO, pastor, and youth basketball coach. Despite having many professional interests and hobbies, he insists,  “I am not a ‘jack of all trades.’ I, most likely like you also, have many passions. And dog training was my first passion since I was 12 years old, and training dogs on my uncle’s farm in Orange County, New York”.

His passion for dogs and their well-being stemmed from when he rescued stray puppies and dogs off the streets from the neighborhood where his family lived. He was angry at his mother often when she wouldn’t let him bring the strays into their family home. He realized how much joy and love dogs got into his life and other people’s lives, which sparked his journey to become a dog trainer.

Karim’s father bred and competed with solid black German Shepherds in obedience trials. Karim mainly learned by observation. When he was twelve, he got his first dog- a Rottweiler- as a gift from his uncle. Then he trained dogs proficiently using the Koehler Method of dog training- a trendy style, mainly based on “negative reinforcement principles” (He does not use this style or advocate this theory today- and has not for decades).

Fortunately, he discovered a positive reinforcement method called “clicker training,” in which the dogs learned faster and obeyed commands quicker and more reliably. He has a Certificate in Dog Training Foundations from the prestigious Karen Pryor Academy and is the founder of clicker training. His expertise and dedication to humane training methods are at the core of his training philosophy at EinsteinK9.

Our training services encompass everything from basic obedience and leash training to more complex behavior modification and housebreaking challenges.
